"ブガッティ ヴェイロンの歴史"

ヴェイロン(Veyron 16.4)は、ブガッティ・オートモビルが2015年2月まで10年間にわたって合計450台のみを生産したスーパーカーです。1998年、フォルクスワーゲングループがブガッティの商標を買い取ると、フェルディナント・ピエヒは2001年に新生ブガッティにおいて世界最強のマシンを製造すると宣言しました。数多の苦難のすえ、2005年に新生ブガッティ初の市販モデルで、VWグループの最新技術の粋を集めたフラッグシップモデル、ヴェイロンが誕生したのです。ヴェイロンのネーミングは、初代ブガッティのエンジニアであり、レーシングドライバーとしても1939年のル・マン24時間レースをブガッティ・タイプ57で制したピエール・ヴェイロンに由来するものです。

正式車名の「16.4」はV8気筒×2のW16気筒に4つのターボチャージャーを装備することを表しています。ミッドシップマウントされた8リッターW型16気筒エンジンは4基のターボチャージャーにより過給され、1001PSを発生しました。厳しい冷却条件を満たすため冷却水は50リットル、エンジンオイルは23リットルも必要とされます。製造時、すべてのエンジンは8時間のベンチテストにかけられた後、6500rpmのレッドラインで数分間回されるという、過酷なテストを受けたのちに搭載されました。

4輪駆動で、スーパーカー性能で最も重要な0→100km/h加速は、わずかに2.5秒。200km/hまで7.5秒、300km/hまでは16.7秒で達し、最高速度は407km/hとメーカーより発表されています。ただし最高速度に達するまでに11km、さらに減速に500mが必要となるため、最高速トライには最低11.5kmの直線が必要となります。また407km/hのトップスピード時の燃費は0.8km/Lで、100リットルの燃料タンクが12分で空になり、その間の走行距離はわずか80kmとなる計算です。

組み合わされるトランスミッションは7段DSG。これはクラッチペダルがない2ペダル方式のため、日本ではオートマチック限定免許でも運転可能です。フルオートマチックモードとセミオートマチックモードを備えており、セミオートマチックモードのときはステアリングホイール裏側のパドルで操作します。このトランスミッションのエンジニアリングを担当したのはイギリスのリカルドです。

ヴェイロンで実際に407km/hを出すには、一旦停車しブレーキペダルを踏んだ状態で、専用のキーを運転席横のサイドシルに差し込まなければなりません。これにより車高が最低位置まで下がり、リアウィングの水平からの角度が最低の2度まで下げられます。なお事前に、全てのタイヤ及びマグネシウムホイールを新品に交換するという条件を満たさなくてはなりません。

タイヤはヴェイロンの最高速に合わせたミシュラン特製のPAXランフラットタイヤです。また、高速走行する際に地上最低高とリアウィングの高さを3段階調整することができます。地上最低高はノーマルが120mmなのに対し「ハンドリングモード」に切り替えると80mmになり、さらに「トップスピードモード」に切り替えると60mmにまで低くなります。リアウィングは油圧式で、最大にするとルーフを越えるまで上昇しブレーキを踏むと立ち上がりエアブレーキとなります。

グランスポーツ(Grand Sport )は、タルガトップ仕様です。2008年8月、ペブルビーチ・コンクールデレガンスにて発表され、2009年4月から製造を開始されました。タルガトップを採用しているため、剛性の低下を防ぐ大幅なボディ強化が行なわれました。フロントガラスや走行用ライトにも小変更が加えられ、取り外し可能なポリカーボネート製ハードトップのほかトランクに収納できる緊急用のソフトトップが用意されています。
ハードトップを装着した場合の最高速度は標準のクーペモデルと変わりませんが、ソフトトップ装着の場合は130km/hとなります。

“Low Mileage and one owner car”

It was already registered when new by official dealer “Nicole Racing” at that time, and fitted with Japanese specification headlights. European specification headlights remains.
The body color is two-tone, matte white and blue carbon. Interior is black leather with white stitching. This is especially gorgeous among Veyron series.
It undertook maintenance that was recommended by Nicole Racing. This is ready to drive on street. This was exhibited in Geneva Motor Show in 2011.

“The history of Bugatti Veyron”

Veyron (Veyron 16.4) is the supercar. Only 450 cars in total were produced by Bugatti Automobiles during 10 years production period until February 2015. When Volkswagen Group acquired the trademark rights of Bugatti in 1998, Ferdinand Karl Piëch announced that new Bugatti would produce the most powerful car in the world. After many difficulties overcame, the flagship model, Veyron made its debut in 2005 as the first new Bugatti production car, which gathered up the latest technologies of VW group. The name, Veyron came from Pierre Veyron, who was the first engineer of Bugatti, and also the racing driver who won 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1939 with Bugatti Type 57.

The official name “16.4” means W16 engine, doubled V8, with four turbochargers. 8.0 liter mid-mounted W16 engine super-charged by four turbochargers produces 1001PS. To meet the strict requirement for cooling, it needs 50L coolant and 23L engine oil. Every engine was in charge of the strict tests prior to mount. That was bench-test for eight hours and revved at its redline, 6500rpm for minutes.

Bugatti announced it as 4WD, and the time for 0-100km/h, the most important number for supercars, was only 2.5 seconds. It reached 200km/h from dead in 7.5 seconds and 300km/h 16.7 seconds, and top speed was 407km/h.
But it needs 11km to reach its maximum speed, and then to be dead needs 500m. So you have to be sure there is 11.5km straight line. The fuel economy at its top speed is 0.8km/L. 100L fuel tank is calculated to be empty in twelve minutes, and the its mileage would be only 80km.

Transmission is 7-speed DSG. This is the 2 pedal without clutch pedal. You can drive even if you have only automatic driving license. Veyron can be driven in fully automatic mode or semi-automatic mode. You can change the gear with paddle placed behind the steering wheel in semi-automatic mode.
The transmission engineering was in charge of Ricardo in the U.K.

To reach 407km/h, you have to stop the car and insert the key into the side sill next to driving seat with the brake pedal tread on. This makes ride height the lowest and rear wing angle goes down to its lowest 2 degree from the level.
And there is also the requirement to meet prior to reach the top speed; you have to change all the tyres and magnesium wheels into new.

The tire is specially made for the top speed of Veyron by Michelin, PAX run-flat.
When you drive at high speed, the ride height and rear wing height can be adjusted.
The adjustment has 3 stages. The normal ride height is 120mm. If you change “handling mode”, it is 80mm. If you change “top-speed mode”, it is 60mm. Rear wing is hydraulic system. When it is lifted by the highest, it is placed over the roof, and causes air brakes when braking.
Grand Sport is targa top version. It was unveiled in Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2008 and started its production in April 2009. The body rigidity was strengthened throughly for the targa top is weak at rigidity.

Minor change of front windshield and lights for driving were done. Polycarbonate hardtop is removable. The fold-down soft top for emergency use that can be stored in trunk is prepared.
When hardtop is fitted, the maximum speed is the same as normal Coupe model. However, when soft top is fitted, the maximum speed is limited to 130km/h.
